Paulino Bernabe 640 Spruce Madagascar Rosewood
The Paulino Bernabe name has a solid place in the history of Spanish guitar building. Paulino Bernabe was the lead luthier in the Ramirez workshop until 1969 when he left to set up his own business. He was joined in the 1980s by his son who runs the business at the present time after serving his apprenticeship under his father. Their guitars are know for their faultless build quality, consistency and the fact that they exhibit the typical Spanish sound.
The guitar has a Spruce top with elegantly book-matched back and sides in Madagascar Rosewood. It has a 640mm scale length and a 51mm nut which together with the slightly smaller body result in an instrument which is very comfortable to play yet loses nothing in volume or sound quality. The fingerboard is Ebony and the tuners are Schaller Grandtune. The guitar, whilst having volume allows a sensitivity and richness of tone, along with excellent sustain and balance across the strings. It is in mint condition, being virtually unplayed and it has full documentation and invoice from Galerie des Luthiers where it was bought new by the previous owner. For an experienced player seeking to move to a more playable instrument, this would be a very good option to consider.
