Stephen Frith classical guitar for sale

Stephen Frith NEW Spruce Indian Rosewood

Stephen Frith Spruce, Indian Rosewood NEW

Stephen is a highly experienced luthier, having worked on the repair and restoration of many instruments by famous makers such as Friederich and Simplicio, and having begun building guitars in his own right in 1979.  He has build some 200 of his model two design and as a result of working and collaborating with Jose and Liam Romanillos has evolved two further designs.  The first, model 3, named Siguenza, is based on the Romanillos arching pattern, and the second, model 4, named Guijosa, is based on Hauser/Torres arching and is based on a Hauser plantilla.  The guitar designation is easily identified by the first number, which is the model number and the other digits being the position in the number made.  Stephen has a high reputation for producing concert level guitars, such that, even having built a reasonable number of instruments, these appear on the open market infrequently as owners tend to hang on to them, impressed by their build quality, tonal expressiveness, and playability.  As a player and guitar teacher himself, Stephen knows about the importance of tone and playability

The guitar for sale is a Guijosa no 40 in Stephen's Hauser/Torres arching inspired guitars.  It is new and as such is in mint condition.  The top is Spruce and the back and sides are Indian Rosewood.  From the photographs the bare taken in book-matching the woods can clearly be seen and this level of attention to detail is reflected in the entire build of the guitar.  Whilst beautifully understated, the detail of the headstock, purfling and rosette are consistent with a high class concert instrument.  The tuning machines are Perona and the scale length and nut width are standard for a classical guitar, as are the string heights at the 12th fret.  The sound is typically Hauser with a strong bass response and bright well-separated trebles, along with a good tonal balance across the strings.

This is an opportunity to purchase a guitar by one of the leading luthiers in the UK and whose reputation has steadily increased over the years through consistently building high quality guitars.  Devon Classical Guitars is pleased to be representing Stephen's guitar in the South West.  For sound samples please visit Stephen's web site which is www.frithguitar.com
