Dominique Field 650 Spruce Indian Rosewood

Dominique Field, Robert Bouchet and Daniel Friederich have taken French lutherie to the pinnacle of international recognition with their guitars being highly sought after internationally by both discerning amateurs and concert artists.  Both Field and Friederich worked with Bouchet and took on his legacy.  Field also took some of Friederichs's conceptual ideas into his designs.  His guitars are noted for their beauty, the quality of his work and his extreme attention to detail.  They characteristically have and enormous dynamic range, tremendous poser combined with a rich tonal palette and impressive projection.  He originally worked in Paris but has now moved to Athens Greece and he now stands as one of the most renowned and sought after luthiers in the international scene.

The guitar offered for sale has a full provenance verified by Dominique Field himself.  It was originally bought by Jean Baptiste Savarit a French Professor of guitar and concert artist.  The next owner was Jean Claude Benham a talented amateur.  It then passed to Denis Moirat the leading collector of guitars on France and in 2016 it passed to the UK collector Howard Davis.  The guitar was built in 1991 and is no 78.  As such it represents the pinnacle of the early Field sound.  The guitar shows hardly any evidence of play wear.  The Spruce top is almost unmarked.  It has a small area of lighter wood on the lower bout which predated the last owner in 2016.  Also there is a cleated crack in the Indian Rosewood back plate which was done during its time in France early on.  Aside from these two minor things, neither of which  affect the sound of the guitar, it is in very good condition.  it has Sloane tuning machines.  The sound and tone are a level beyond and of the other guitars in my collection and would require a concert level artist to fully explore the capabilities of this exceptional instrument.
