Sakurai Kohno classical guitar for sale

ON HOLD Sakurai Kohno Spruce Indian Rosewood

Sakurai Kohno, Spruce Madagascar Rosewood 650mm

Masaki Sakurai is the nephew of the legendary Japanese luthier Masaru Kohno (Kono), and served his apprenticeship under him before taking over the workshop in his own name in the late 90's.  Since then he has continued the Kohno tradition of making world class instruments, using the Masaki Sakurai and Sakurai Kohno labels.  Of these two lines, each has a Professional J model with the Sakurai Kohno one being the more expensive and it holds to the more traditional design of Masaru Kohno whilst incorporating Masaki's own improvements to give a more modern sound.

The guitar is the Professional J Model and has Madagascar Rosewood back and sides and a Spruce top.  The scale length and nut width are standard at 650mm and 52mm respectively, and the Ebony fretboard incorporates a slight radius which can ease the playing of barre chords for some players.  the guitar is in very good condition with very little evidence of having been played.  As to sound, Masaki has combined the solid bass response of a Kohno with a bright and clear treble response, so the guitar is suited to play any style of music.
